I didn’t get it for a while
I completely misunderstood him
I wasn’t prepared for it all
Weakened I was by the weight;
Of his words….. Of his fists
I take back every moment of fear
Each flinch… Each tear
Everytime I devised a means of escape
I couldn’t see it then…
Never felt it.
That look in your eye; Its pity isn’t it….
Judgment, confusion… A hint of anger maybe?
Do not feel sorry for me, I don’t need saving
I am where I want to be,
I am happy.
Happy…
when he gets that look in his eyes;
Just before he deals the first blow.
Happy…
From that feeling he gives off;
As his palm goes across my cheek.
Happy….
with each kick;
Counting for something different…
Something special… Something unspoken.
I forfeit all my desires
I only need to satisfy him
There’s no me, only his using me
What we have is extraordinary
A love beyond all others…..
Won’t you stay a little longer?
He’ll be home soon
Your presence will enrage him
Please…. Stay..
