[Short Story] Surgical Fate by Sixtie 9ine (Episode 5)[18+]

I woke up and hugged the sleeping beauty next to me tighter. She sighed and snuggled into my arms. We both dozed off again until I felt her start to wake up.

I pulled her in for a quick kiss. “Morning sunshine.”

She giggled and kissed me back. “Hey,” she smiled. “I think I could get used to this.”

“I bet.” I grinned right back.

Namisa moved and then frowned. “Damn.”

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“I feel sticky,” she wrinkled her nose. “I need a shower.”

“Go on,” I said.

“I can’t reach everywhere to wash,” she said softly.

“Do you know anyone who could help?”

As she headed to the bathroom, she grinned mischievously at me. I quickly got out of bed and followed her.

After our shower, we went downstairs for a late breakfast. We tried to make it ourselves, but the cook sent us out of the kitchen and asked us to wait, perhaps scared we’d burn down the house. We sat in the same alcove where we had dinner last night until they brought us our food.

After breakfast, we cleared our dishes and then returned to Namisa’s room. In the daylight, I got a much better look at it, beautiful was an understatement. We relaxed on the balcony, enjoying the warm sun and the view of the garden and swimming pool while sipping coffee brought by the kitchen staff.

We spent the morning chatting and getting to know each other better. Namisa was curious about my family, especially my parents. I shared the details of how my father had tragically passed away in an accident.

“It’s incredible how quickly life can turn upside down,” Namisa reflected. “My mom’s passing was similar. She seemed fine one moment, but then she fell ill suddenly. We rushed her to the doctor, only to discover that her appendix had burst. Within a day, she died of severe sepsis.”

“That must have been incredibly tough,” I sympathized. Losing your mom suddenly, without any warning…”

“My dad was deeply affected,” She remarked.

“Losing a partner is never easy, especially when the bond is as strong as theirs seemed to be.”

“I had to support my family after my dad passed,” I explained. “My mom worked hard to keep us going. Without scholarships and help from family and friends, I wouldn’t have made it through medical school. Taking care of her now is the least I can do.”

“You’ve been through a lot,” Namisa sympathized.

“Your commitment to your family is impressive. Not everyone could have endured what you did, and I bet your mum is proud of you.”

“My mom’s been on a mission to find me a wife,” I laughed. “She’s been trying to set me up with every girl she knows. ‘You should meet my son, the doctor,’ she says.”

Namisa laughed. “I’d like to meet her. She sounds nice.”

“How about we go see her later today?” I suggested. “It’s been a couple of weeks since I last visited. We could take her out to dinner.”

“I’d like that.” She agreed.

I called my mum later and told her I was coming to take her out. However, I didn’t mention that I would be bringing someone along.

………………..

It only took a few minutes to reach my childhood home. I opened Antonia’s door and helped her out of the car, then walked her up to the door. The maid opened the door and let us in. I called out to her, ” Mummy ẹ́kú ìrọ̀lẹ́ ma.”

“Ọkọ mi mò ń bọ̀” She answered.

Namisa and I sat on the couch and waited. Mom came down, then stopped dead at the bottom of the stairs. “You didn’t tell me you were bringing a guest.”

I stood and walked over to hug my mother. “I wanted to surprise you ma, this is my girlfriend Namisa.”

“Girlfriend?” She gasped. “A dúpẹ́ o, I was starting to think I’d never live to see this day.”

I blushed and shook my head. “Ah mummy.”

She walked over to Namisa and hugged her as they exchanged pleasantries.

Dinner was fun. Mom embarrassed me more times than I could count, but we had a good time. Afterwards, she served us freshly made smoothies. We chatted for a while and then said our goodbyes.

Episode 7

“Don’t mess this up, Mofe.” My mum cautioned.

“She’s a keeper.”

“I like your mom,” Namisa said when we were back in the car.

“If we break up, she’ll keep you instead of me,” I said. “She’s already planning the names of our children.”

“All parents do that,” Namisa chuckled.

We returned home. It had been an eventful day, visiting my mum always stirred up memories of my dad, making me feel a bit sad. I can’t even imagine how my mum feels.

Namisa could see I was lost in thought, so she kept quiet during the drive. When we got back home, she hugged me tightly and kissed me, snapping me out of my trance. “Don’t dwell on the sadness,” she urged. “Remember the good times instead.”

“You’re right,” I replied. She already understood me better than anyone, except maybe my mum.

That evening, we took a stroll in the gardens. Namisa told me her mother had designed the entire layout, but it wasn’t completed until after she had passed away. She spent her days working on it until her final day. Her father had it finished to honour her memory.

After our stroll, we had a quick soak in the Jacuzzi, rinsed off in the shower, and called it a night. We made love that night, Namisa had an explosive orgasm. We cuddled together, enjoying the warmth, with Namisa nestled into my side with her head on my shoulder. At one point, she caught me looking at her, and I quickly looked away.

“What’s wrong babe?” She asked.

“I’m fine,” I insisted, although I didn’t sound convincing.

“Talk to me, Mofe.” She urged.

“It’s stupid, don’t mind me,” I said.

“If it’s bothering you, then it’s important,” she reassured.

“I’ve had girlfriends before, but none of those relationships lasted,” I confessed with a heavy sigh. “We always seemed to drift apart for reasons I couldn’t understand.”

“Okay….” Namisa nodded.

“I’ve never been in love,” I confessed. “You bring out feelings in me I’ve never had before. It’s scary. I think I’m falling in love with you, but I’m just scared of… ”

Namisa stopped me with a soft touch. “I’ve been in love before,” she said with a smile. “And what I feel for you is love, Mofe. I believe you feel the same way. It can be scary, but it’s worth it in the end.”

“What about Aliyu?” I asked.

“He betrayed me, not the other way around. Do I think the same will happen with us? No. I understand your fear of hurting me if things don’t work out. But sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith. Trust me, Mofe. Let’s take that leap together.”

I looked into her eyes, and suddenly everything became clear. I realized that I loved her more than anything. The mere thought of her not being a part of my life was unbearable. It wasn’t love that I was afraid of, but the idea of losing her. I held her tightly, tears streaming down my face as I released all the pent-up emotions. Finally, the inner turmoil subsided, and I felt an overwhelming sense of happiness. Gazing into her eyes, I declared, “I love you, Nams.”

“I love you too Mo.” She smiled, tears of joy streaming down her eyes.

I fell asleep feeling lucky to have her by my side. To think I almost didn’t pick Dr Craig’s call.
